Date with Mr. J

I must admit,
at first,
every time I write out
Mr. J on posts,
I think of my drama teacher
"J",
so we may have to get a new name
for my sweetheart.

For now,
I'll have you all know
that this is Mr. Chad Edward Johnson
I'm talking about,
not my former teacher!
Creepy....

So, anyway...

Chad and I decided to
have some time to ourselves
and go on an actual date.

Sure, you spend every second
together,
but to set aside some time to
go and do something
is such an awesome thing.

We decided that
one last dinner to Parker's
was the only option for food,
so that's what we did.

Yes,
I technically had
my last visit the week before
with my family,
but I just HAD to have another fry
before it closed forever.

He was pretty upset....

After our scrumptious feast,
we journeyed up to Salt Lake.

I was the one planning the date,
so I made it a surprise for what
we were doing.

However...he guessed pretty fast.

We went to the Gallivan Center
and went ice-skating!

Now,
I went here last year,
and you got your skates
and such in this tent.

Which I have to say was pretty sweet.

But this year,
they totally upgraded.

They build this building,
but this lights everywhere around
the rink with pretty colors,
and bottom-line,
it's SUPER legit now.

Oh my.

{And I have to mention that's Hot Cocoa ;)}

Can I just say...
Ice-skating is 8042095235 guzillion times
better with your sweetheart.

Just sayin'.

It was a lovely evening
and I look forward to many more
dates to come!

Love always,
Little Besty

Mr. J and People

Mmmm....
sweet saturday.
{This was written on Saturday}

It's always a good day when
I pull out the glasses,
braid my hair,
put on the loose button-up,
and have red-painted fingernails.

Ahhh...

Oh.
And I studied.

But it was all good because
I did so in the institute building
with absolutely no souls around,
and also with Janese at her house,
which was superb beyond reason.

I love that woman.
And I'm going to miss her so.

Anywho.

I've discovered
that I have failed to update
the world on Mr. J and myself. ;)

Before we begin, however,
you must play this song
while you read.

It just soothes my soul.
Mmmm hmmm. ;)

Right.
So it would take an awfully
long time to recapture all
the moments we've had together
in the past while,
but I'll just highlight a few.

A few weeks after he came home,
his brother, Ryan, and sister-in-law, KacyAnn
{and himself, of course},
came to Cedar City
to spend the weekend. ;)

We got in the car and went to Leeds,
which is where KacyAnn's grandparents live.

There house is AWESOME.
They have stuff from all over the world
in there.
Not to mention the coolest fish EVER
in their pond.
Eeee-oh!

I don't think I could have been more pleased.
We were treated like king and queens!

We went on countless adventures
from touring the town, to hiking around,
to watching Tangled
and How To Train A Dragon
{which Chad was seeing for the first time},
to gettin' in the hot tub,
and reading scriptures with my man ;),
to playing parcheesi and silently
dominating.

Ah. It was the best.

{Did I mention I love it when he does that?^}

After our little hiking adventure,
we went to Nielsen's Frozen Custard
in St. George.
Yummmmm.....

{Ya...I like that boy}

Kids?
Let's be real.
I forgot how easy and utterly fulfilling
it was to just hang out with him.

It's better than Christmas,
my friends.
All the sudden,
the world makes sense
and you know they'll love you
no matter what you do.

Ah!
To be loved for being just
YOU!

:)

{~}

On to our next update. ;)
{That I actually have pictures for...}

A few weeks ago,
we had Pie Night.
Here's Ryan, KacyAnn, Chad and I
at that event. :)

I would show more photos
of the family and friend ordeal,
complete with pies well over the
double digits,
but...
I may or may not have accidentally
deleted the photos?

Oops...
Not intentional.

But yes.
Pie Night is only the greatest night
to be invented ever in the history of life.

Thank you, Leafy,
for thinking about the genius idea
that we now celebrate every year.

Millions of pies
{in the eyes of a little one},
Mexican dip, chips and crackers,
CHEESEBALL, veggies,
topped off with your outstanding family
and fantastic friends,
and you got a night to remember.

Talk about feeling loved
and understanding why we're given
each other. ;)

I just feel so....happy-
and content about life
and stuff. :)

And Mr. J
is just the most phenomenal person.
He makes me so happy every day...

I think he's a keeper,
folks.

Alright.
I shall conclude this post for now.
But be ready for more to come! ;)

May you all have a splendid finals week
{hehehe...},
and if you aren't currently a student,
may you enjoy this Christmas season
of cheeryness. :)

Love always,
Little Besty

Musings of My All too Complicated Brain

Once upon a time...

my brain was complicated.

I feel like I have 5,040021
million things running through
my mind,
and to just pinpoint one little
area deems to be nearly
IMPOSSIBLE.

But all things are possible...
so I guess I am faced
with defeating the walls of my
own head.

Hard?
That would be a definite
YEP.

Well....
let's give it a go, eh?

***

*Heart missing pieces
that can't be replaced.

I can even try to smash new pieces
into the missing shapes,
but they just don't fit...
they don't fit in the same way
and fill up every crook and cranny.

*One of the greatest things
to happen to me is
returning to me
in a matter of weeks.
....
which leads to a lot of
happiness, anxiety, stress,
worry....and lots of joy. ;)

*This little thumping thing
in my chest keeps freaking out
every time I consider what
I want to do with that degree...
I love children.
I love to teach.
I love SUU...
it's all gotta work out somehow,
even with the upcoming events
and happenings in my future life.
Right?

*Of course my thoughts flutter
to that special time in my life
when I'll be holding the hand
of the man I'm about to marry
for time and all eternity.

The moment he'll caress
my cheek with his fingers.

The day he gets down on that knee
and asks the all too
simple, yet powerful,
delicate, and grand question
that will change the course
of my eternity...forever.

I can't help it.
Every girl thinks about it,
and I happen to think about it
all the time.

No worries.

Then there's the "baby hungry" issue.
Don't worry,
I'm not getting prego any time soon.
For heavens sake,
I haven't even got a
"ring on it"!

But every time I see those little faces...
Every time I smell baby lotion...
Every time I go outside and wish
I was taking my little one out for
a wagon ride...

I just wish the day was closer
that it was no longer dreams...
but reality.

Other thoughts in my head?
Food.
Meat.
Scented Letters.
Dedication.
Singing.
Being prepared.
Making dinner.
Watching chick-flicks.
Getting up in the morning.
Sleeping better.
My future.
Being there for family that I'm not physically
close to at this time-how is that accomplished?
Giving love...
Moving forward.
Dealing with change.

.....just to name a few.

But I'm happy.
Even with my complicated head
and heart of insanity,
I can feel joy running
through my veins and spirit.

For now,
I'll let my buzzing head
just breathe...
and enjoy the time that is
surrounding my present.

Best wishes to you.

Love always,
Little Besty

Real Beauty

This past week,
I've been doing a
"breakfast-breaks-
lunch-break" catering
job for a make-up
company called Sephora.
I've done a couple
of weeks of this in the past.

They have all these girls
{and some guys}
come out to Utah and
train to sell make-up
and all that jazz
for four days.

They pretty much breathe,
eat, and sleep: make-up
and facial whateverness.

So,
I was minding
my own business,
cutting some pineapple
and suddenly...
one of the ladies comes up
to me and says:

"Wow.
You have beautiful skin...
so pretty..."

..and walks off.

Huh?

Did a make-up artist
just say that to me?

Did I mention
that this is the day
I came to work with
just a touch of mascara
and a small pat of
foundation?

Hmmm.
Some food for thought,
don't you think, ladies?

Now, I'm not
a girl to glob on
the powder and glitter,
but I do wear my share
of make-up.

However...
in recent years past..
the days where I just
put on that dab of foundation
and a little mascara
always feels marvelous.

Because I'm just me.

What happened to when
all of us were eight years
old and LOVED the way
our little face looked?
Or when we didn't
care if the pony-tail
was half falling out
all day long?

Yes,
I like to put
some make-up on,
but let's be real.

Me.
Just me.
Without any scratch
of eye-shadow.

It feels gooood.

And that's what HE loves.

He:
Daddy
My brothers
Best Friend*
Future Hubby
Heavenly Father

The boys
in my family and
in my circle of dear friends
always tell me that
"girls don't need it"
&
"pretty girls=confidence
Not a made-up face".

Now,
I'm not saying we
should never wear
make-up.
It's great to put on
a little somethin'.

...just as long as you
are completely satisfied
with what's underneath.

If someone whipped off
the applied product,
would you be happy
with you?

***
Might I share a
rather personal story
with all of you?

Whew*.
Here it goes.
I can't believe I'm
actually sharing this!

Okay.
When little girls
grow up into
taller and slightly more
mature little girls,
sometimes they
like a boy...
and the boy likes them...
and the little girl+little boy
kinda sorta...
hold hands...
and maybe...
give each other a
sweet, simple...little
kiss.

Okay.
I said it.

I'm not gonna lie.
It's happened to me.

Now,
a girl can imagine
that kiss with that
amazing boy 5 million
times-over and over
and expect certain results.

{Don't judge.
You've ALL done it}

Well,
once there was/is this
brilliant beyond perfect,
best friend, amazing young man.

Greatest friendship
to exist.
Always friends,
but never anything more.
{Due to my stubborness}

This boy has seen me
in every single sort of
mood...feeling... attire..yeah.

Formal dance.
Casual dance.
Hang out.
Nice date.
Sunday dress.
And of course...
Sick-gross days.

Sadly,
he's seen mostly
the sick-gross-sweats
days.

But also,
with that statement
comes a really cool thing.

I knew that he cared
about me and thought
I was beautiful no matter
what I was wearing or what
I looked like.

So the sweats were accepted.

This particular day,
I had been super sicky.
Not contagious, just sick.

I looked...great.
{sarcasm please}.

Hair on top of head
{who-hair as my dad calls it},
sweats,
baggy shirt,
sweat,
...nasty.

But he came over anyways.
Just because I asked him
to because I needed my
best friend to comfort me.

He walked in,
saw me,
and gave me the same
face he gave me
when he saw me all dolled
up for the formal dance
we went to together.

"Beautiful".

Okay, skipper.
Let's not get too
brown-noser like.

:) But he wasn't brown-nosing.

He let me lay my disgusting,
greasy hair on his lap,
and he stroked my face
and combed my hair.

Then it hit me.

As I looked up at
my BFF,
I realized...
that I seriously was
beautiful...
just like this...
to him.

He was always there.
Through everything.
Stupid boy stuff.
"Allytude".
Plays.
Support.
Talks.
Singing.
Crying.
and sweaty-no-make-up days.

So,
that's all it took.

I lifted up my
all too heavy,
stuffy head
and gave him a little...
kiss.

;)
Yep.
Best, greatest, sweetest kiss
was...

Not when I was wearing make-up.
Not when I was wearing a killer dress.
Not when my hair was perfectly combed
and smelled like strawberries.

but when I was totally and completely
ME.

Maybe it wasn't
that kiss I had pictured happening
in my head with this amazing BFF.

It was even better. ;)
***

Love the beauty that
lies within.
You are SO gorgeous,
beautiful, pretty, classy,
smart, funny, fabulous,
and phenomenal...

even without the make-up.

Go ahead!
Have at least
one day a week
that you don't wear a drop
of make-up,
if you haven't already.

May you find
the real beauty
inside of you. ;)

Love always,
Little Besty
